aurora

The Aurora
Oil and iridescent pigment on canvas.

This painting was done as a wedding gift for two friends. Both are nature lovers. The bride loved the color pink, so I wanted to incorporate pink in a way that was not overwhelming or too feminine. The solution was the night sky over Alaska.

curl

In the Wave
Oil

The technique used on this painting was the first time I painted with the palette knife instead of a brush. The effect reminded me of the pictures of surfers inside a curl with the waves crashing around them, perhaps after a wipe out.

spectrum

Spectrum
Oil

I worked very fast on this painting. Iwanted the colors to blend and fade into each other with as much fluidity as possible. The colors were chosen based on the mood of the moment. Brightness and hope emerging from darkness.

flame

Flame
Oil and iridescent pigment

This started as a color study and metamorphisized into a painting of a blue flame.

envy

Envy
Acrylic

This painting also started as a color study. When it was finished the effect of the harsh almost angry lines with the kryptonite green made me think that this might be what envy would look like if it materialized.
